This self-study course is perfect for learners who have already finished pre-intermediate or first part of intermediate (B1.1) level of Serbian, whether with us or somewhere else.
What is the self-study course? It is a course that enables you to study on your own, at your own pace. You can study from anywhere 🏝️ and at any time ⏰. All you need to do is log into our learning platform on the website and start studying.
Higher-level learners often feel overlooked because there simply aren’t many materials designed for them. That’s why we created this unique course (so far, we know of no other self-study course at this level on the market!) It’s designed for learners like you, who can already manage everyday conversations in Serbian, but want to take their skills to the next level. You’ll learn how to handle more complex topics, navigate nuanced situations, and gain confidence in real-life interactions. By the end, we even touch on some upper-intermediate (B2) material. Imagine reaching the point where you can proudly say, “I just had a full conversation, and even cracked a joke, in Serbian!” 😀
What Will I Learn From This Course? 👨💻
Because this course is for intermediate learners all of the video lessons are recorded in Serbian with subtitles in English. This means that you will not only learn from the content of the videos but also from listening to us speaking to you in Serbian all the time.
In previous levels we covered foundations and here we cover nuances, exceptions, and higher level structure such as: irregular verbs, passive, relative pronouns koji and čiji, direct and indirect speech, future II and conditionals, and many more topics. To get a full picture of all topics covered in this course expand each unit in the curriculum below. ⬇️
We have an approximately equal number of units focusing primarily on grammar as those focusing on vocabulary building. For example, after a unit exploring plural forms of nouns like brat and dete, you’ll move on to a practical, real-life unit about Serbian weddings.
We present all topics in a structured manner so that you build your knowledge gradually and with proper understanding (this is a major benefit of this course as opposed to e.g. watching videos for beginner Serbian on YouTube).
How much will I be able to say in Serbian? 🗣️
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
✅ Discuss complex topics such as cultural differences, relationships, personality traits, and emotions.
✅ Talk about current issues, including the environment, education, digital nomad life, and more.

At the end of each unit, there is a special lesson Praktični srpski (Practical Serbian). These lessons will help you improve your practical conversational skills and prepare you for following along with real-life conversations. They come with an audio file, followed by a transcript and a mini glossary with the most important words from the lesson.

Once a month we organize free conversation lessons. You can sign up for these lessons ahead of time and join us to practice Serbian with other students. The conversation lessons are centered around relevant topics and geared to students of all levels. It is your safe space to apply your knowledge, make mistakes, and learn from your teacher and other students.
We also have a closed Facebook group. You can use this group to ask questions about the course, and interact with other Go Speak Serbian students and teachers. We also publish exclusive content in this group that we do not share on other social media channels.

I took this course because I felt stuck at the intermediate level- I understood Serbian, but speaking didn’t feel natural. This course helped me move past that hesitation. What I liked most is that nothing feels artificial: the language, examples, and dialogues all reflect how Serbian is actually spoken. I’m about halfway through the course and I’m really getting a lot out of it. I’ve been studying Serbian for over four years, and it’s been hard to find materials that are for my level (strong intermediate). I was so happy when I discovered this course. I finally feel like I understand some grammar rules instead of just memorizing them. The lessons in Serbian with simultaneous translation are amazing for my vocabulary. I even caught myself using words and expressions that Miljana and Dragana use in the lessons 🙂

Sincerely, I’ve been waiting for this course for more than a year. The Gospeakserbian team appear to be the best online school of Serbian available. They have great balance between theory and practice and have lots of additional materials.
The Intermediate course covers both vocabulary and grammar and includes plenty of exercises and tests.
